Meet D’Arcy! He’s a hands-in-the-dirt, head-in-the-lab kind of guy. A North Shore local with a lifelong love for plants, he’s turned his passion into Urban Botanist — blending backyard growing, rare cuttings, and low-key science to create clever tools and one-of-a-kind plants for fellow frothers across Aotearoa.
Nature Meets Science
D’Arcy’s not your average plant guy. What started with backyard veggie patches and cuttings from the rainforest has grown into a full-blown obsession with how plants work and how we can grow them better. Whether it’s grafting multi-fruit trees, formulating cloning paste in a home lab, or testing new propagation methods, Urban Botanist blends curiosity, craft, and a healthy dose of science. The result? Smarter plants, cooler products, and a fresh take on the way we grow.

Clone your favourite house plants with Urban Botanist Cloning Paste! Urban Botanist Cloning paste promotes new growth, formulated to work with a vast range of different indoor plants. The active plant hormone ingredient is a Cytokinin that promotes shoot proliferation in tissue culture. Using the cloning paste on a 'dormant bud' can activate it, promoting a new shoot. Experiment with propagating your house plants, accelerating new shoot growth from both the mother plant and cutting and promoting bushier plants
