Fruit Salad Trees - Finger Lime (Brown & Green)
The Australian Finger Lime (Citrus australasica) is a hardy shrub/small tree producing slender, elongated fruits filled with 'lime caviar' - Tangy balls of citrus. Squeeze the finger lime fruits and a burst of citrus caviar can be added to cocktails or a garnish for prized by chefs & foodies.
This is a very unique 'Citrus Fruit Salad Tree' as there's both the Green Finger Lime & Brown Finger Lime growing on the same tree!
Grafted onto Trifoliata rootstock that is will and truely established, expect these to fruit in the next season or two. They are already a medium/large grade at 1M tall. These grow perfect in a large pot or in the ground with a free draining soil. Grafted finger limes are much easier to grow in our climate and soil types. With them being a native to Australia, their own roots (if grown from seed or cuttings) are acclimatised to a very free draining soil, and would struggle here in NZ.
Brown Finger Lime - The Brown Finger Lime is very sought after and a rare citrus variety, both for its large fruit & citrus caviar vesicles and its amazing colouring. Crack open a brown finger lime when fully ripe and the flesh is a soft pink. Once picked it can ripen further into dark pink/red.
Green Finger Lime - The original Green Finger Lime also known as the 'crystal finger lime'. Green skin with lime green/clear flesh.
